A class on nature photography for all abilities no matter what your mode of ambulation may be. We will be exploring the wheelchair-accessible meadow and forested areas around the education center, as well as examining natural objects and specimens inside.
For beginners and more experienced photographers, with digital cameras or Smartphones. Enjoy the beauty and variety of plants, animals and minerals while learning creative composition, cropping, framing, leading lines, viewpoints and lighting. Also experience taking photos of tiny organisms through a microscope.
Call two weeks in advance if you need a sign-language interpreter or assistive technology for your camera.

A time of education, reflection, healing, and sharing about the Indian Boarding School History in the United States and graves of many Native Children. Please join us and bring your whole family.
Shelly Covert, Spokesperson for the Nisenan Tribe, will sing in her Native language and answer questions about U.S. Indian Boarding Schools and slavery of Native American children. Her older relatives and many others in her tribe were forced to attend residential government schools at a young age, where they were mistreated and stripped of their identity. Her great-uncle was sent all the way to Kansas where he died at Haskell Boarding School, without a reason and his remains were never returned.

This Photography outing was held at the FREED Center For Independent Living office in Grass Valley California to familiarize the Traumatic Brain Injury group with photography terms and techniques. We discussed Composition & Lighting while demonstrating how to set their cameras, smartphones, and tablets to achieve the best results. We provided some assistive equipment to mount their cameras to wheelchairs.

This Memorial / Healing / Photography outing is for those who lost loved-ones and wish to celebrate their lives in the beautiful Nature and Wildlife of North Cascades National Park.
North Cascades National Park is in northern Washington State. It’s a vast wilderness of conifer-clad mountains, glaciers and lakes.
The park shelters grizzly bears and gray wolves, plus more than 200 bird species.

This Healing / Photography outing is for those who lost property or loved-ones in the Camp Fire and First Responders/Volunteers
If you enjoy outdoor photography or want to learn, and you were affected by the Camp Fire as a survivor or helper, this outing is tailored for your comfort and learning. Through the eyes of your camera or cell phone, see how nature is returning and healing is processing. Get your own unique perspective on any beauty that arises from the ashes. Feel free to quietly talk to our photographers and volunteers about your feelings and your hopes for the future. Be yourself around others who understand. Walk away with meaningful photos you may choose to share or keep for yourself.
